At the advent of the COVID 19 pandemic, Marsden Direct Group of Companies – that includes Marsden Exhibitions and Luga Baruga – purchased sanitiser solutions to support their clients’ needs. Our experience in creating bespoke solutions that provide efficacy for high footfall areas meant that the public returning to football stadia, cinema theatres and retail spaces ensured that customers and staff could maintain a high level of protection from the virus.

With the need for sanitiser products still high – especially in medical settings – we felt that we would be able to make a donation of these essential supplies. At a senior management team meeting last month, we considered the idea of making it available to Ukraine. After discussing this with a few organisations and societies involved with providing aid to Ukraine, we established a need and after speaking with contacts in freight – Maritime Transport and Ardent Hire Solutions – we are able to get our donation to the Ukraine entirely voluntarily.

At 3:00 pm on Thursday, May 26th, a shipment of twenty pallets of assorted sanitiser products worth c£50k left our offices and warehouse in Loughborough en route to Ipswich where they will be stored and transported to Ukraine on the next available (weekly) shipments of aid.

We would like to thank Ben Richards at Maritime and Jeremy Fish at Ardent for their support in transporting the shipment.

We hope that this story highlights that there is a continued need for aid in the Ukraine – and encourages like-minded businesses to think outside the box as we did.

Our partners…

Since its inception in 2001, Maritime Transport has grown into one of the largest privately-owned intermodal transport operators in the UK. Specialising in container transport, to begin with, Maritime has diversified over the years to provide complete supply chain coverage through a wide range of services including curtain-sided distribution, intermodal transport, container storage and repair, freight management, and cargo handling and warehousing. With a network of 40+ depots spanning the UK and cutting-edge IT systems, Maritime has an unrivalled infrastructure in place to deliver consistent, quality logistics solutions to customers.

Ardent Hire Solutions was established from the amalgamation of Fork Rent and One Call Hire in August 2015. The business trades from eleven depots nationwide and provides over 5,000 units for rent with an average age of fewer than two years and a fleet holding of approximately £150m. Last week, Ardent shipped 17 tonnes of food that was delivered through combined efforts of like-minded businesses and members of the public – and this is now in the hands of refugees!
